I was just reading Rebecca Well's account of Lyme and something she said struck home ... She says "I was so sick for so long -- and did not know why -- that I grew ashamed of my illness. This meant that my own sisterhood and brotherhood was left uncultivated. I lost a sense of community. With the exception of my sweet, steadfast husband and a few dear friends (most of whom live far away), I became painfully isolated."
I can understand the loss of community and feeling isolated (see previous post). I don't think b/c I'm ashamed of my illness. More b/c you just feel crappy! And because people don't understand and perhaps have too high expectations.
