Pantry Challenge Update
Well, the pantry challenge went off without a hitch & definitely helped adjust our thinking a little bit. We did go grocery shopping on November 1st to stock up on some things & have continued grocery runs (necessary with a family of four), but it did help shape our thinking on eating out. We make do with what's in the pantry more often now, even if it's 'one of those days' when I'm not up to cooking. It made us dig deep into the recesses of our brains & get creative with easy, go-to meals. I think we'll do it again after the holidays to be sure we maintain this state of mind! If only it were this easy to change our other ingrained thoughts so easily!

Sounds intriguing...what exactly is the pantry challenge?
We tried something new this summer and bought a share of our local CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) farm. The fresh, organic veggies were so delicious!! We really enjoyed it.

Sue - the pantry challenge was just to eat out of the pantry (refrig, freezer) for a month. Our 2 exceptions were out weekly CSA delivery & milk. We enjoy the fresh, seasonal, local produce, too!
Sounds like a great idea! We always have tons of food int he pantry and freezer! Sounds like meal planning might be a bit of a challenge, though. I love to try out new recipes which usually require at least an ingredient or two not in the house.
You are lucky living in CA - our CSA stopped weeks ago already - it was scheduled to run until end of Oct but we got a lot of rain and they had to stop early. Now we have a long, long wait until June 1!!
