My husband & I had talked about what we might do for Earth Day. Turns out we're not doing anything but living in chaos. My last post was about my crazy oversight in scheduling things for this week. That compounded with the messy house really has me in a funk.
To describe the house: we are slobs (at least it seems like it). There are dishes in & beside the sink piling up so high I worry that they might fall. There is clean laundry on the bench at the foot of the bed. Our closet floor is completely covered with dirty laundry because the hampers are full & spilling over. Toys are everywhere.
How did it manage to get this way?
I usually pick/clean up after my husband when he is at work (he doesn't think that I do b/c he doesn't think he's that messy, but he is and I do). Since he's not working he's home more to make more of a mess AND leaves me with less time to deal with it.
I usually pick/clean up after Adam while he is napping (after I take my nap). Since he's not napping he's awake to make more of a mess AND leaves me with less time to deal with it.
All this leaves me with less energy to deal with it.
Result = TOTAL CHAOS

Oh, I feel for you!! I know exactly what you mean - all of it. Especially about the state of the house getting you down. I spent an hour today looking all over the house for a book a friend wanted to borrow for her son. Turns out we'd already lent it to someone else, so that made me feel a little better, but there is just too much stuff stashed in too many places! I like organization, but it's an uphill battle with my packrat husband and sons and I no longer have the energy to clean and organize for all four of us (or even for myself lately). It gets me down, too.
And I'm so sorry to hear your son gave up his nap! My youngest quit napping right about the time I started to need one!
Hang in there - you're not alone!
Sue
P.S. Don't even get me started about the piles of laundry - both clean and dirty!
Oh man, not having that time to yourself is so hard, and when the house is messy that can be draining as well. Hopefully things will be back to normal for you soon!
